3 year fixed-term opportunity available, with the possibility of converting to continuing.

The School of Animal and Veterinary Sciences seeks to appoint a specialist veterinary public health academic to teach and mentor the next generation of veterinarians and veterinary technicians. This academic role requires the appointee to contribute to courses in veterinary public health, assuming responsibility for the coordination of the Veterinary Public Health and Biosecurity course and final year rotations in Veterinary Public Health/One Health, and teaching into other programs as required. They will introduce innovative approaches to teaching and learning, including on-line and intensive mode delivery. The appointee will also be expected to contribute to research within the Department of Pathobiology and Population Health and wider academic community, and supervise clinical research projects, Honours and PhD students.

To be successful you will need:

A qualification in Veterinary Science that is acceptable for registration in South Australia, a specialist qualification in veterinary public health and a PhD in veterinary public health or a related discipline (epidemiology).

Demonstrated experience in innovative and effective teaching, supervising and mentoring tertiary level students in veterinary public health, in particular food safety and hygiene.

Demonstrated research experience and scholarship in veterinary public health, evidenced by a track record of research outputs including publications in highly regarded peer-reviewed veterinary scientific journals.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of an academic team.
