Lecturer/Asst Professor Above The Bar Salary Scale: €52,848 to €83,090 per annum. Appointment will be made on scale and in accordance with the Department of Finance guidelines.

 

Lecturer/Assistant Professor in Veterinary Public Health, UCD School of Veterinary Medicine (Permanent)

Applications are invited for a Permanent post of a Lecturer/Assistant Professor in Veterinary Public Health within UCD School of Veterinary Medicine.

UCD has embarked on an expansion in its education programmes in veterinary medicine and veterinary nursing. The portfolio of educational offerings now includes both undergraduate and graduate entry streams to veterinary medicine, a veterinary nursing degree programme, an expanding range of taught graduate programmes, structured and thematic PhD programmes, specialist clinical training (residency programmes) and continuing professional development offerings. These programmes maintain the highest educational standards, and are recognised for their quality nationally and internationally. A wide variety of pedagogical approaches are employed, including enquiry-based learning, blended and online learning and small group teaching.

The person appointed will teach Veterinary Public Health to students of veterinary medicine and veterinary nursing, to students of other relevant taught programmes within the School and University, and contribute to the School's evolving graduate taught and continuing education offerings. The successful candidate will preferably be research-active and be capable of contributing to an internationally-competitive research programme relevant to the discipline. Both teaching and research activities will relate to aspects of zoonoses and food safety assurance, approaches to ante- and post-mortem inspection of food animals, herd health, animal welfare, food hygiene, pre-harvest and harvest waste management, food chain traceability, legislation, residue monitoring and antimicrobial surveillance.
