The tertiary site composed of 800 people, located within the Biodistrict of Lyon Gerland, is recruiting a Technical Director and Clinical Trials Manager   M/F for a two-year mission. Position to be filled in January 2023

 

Main mission :

Boehringer Ingelheim is a leader in the global Veterinary Public Health vaccine market, albeit under strong competitive attack.

Boehringer Ingelheim is recognized as the leader of VPH vaccines in the world (esp. FMD, BTV) for two major reasons: the quality of its products, and the depth of its expertise.

This position supports VPH clients through:

1/ generating and centralizing supportive data for the VPH vaccine range (trials, published information, reports) and materials (e.g. training files).

2/ offering post-vaccination monitoring services to validate the efficiency of national vaccination programs

3/ partnering with the EUCAN commercial manager to develop a comprehensive understanding of VPH diseases, epidemiologic and competitive trends, and to develop a regional business plan that positions BI as a technical leader in the region of responsibility

 

The role is required to directly oversee the planning, execution and subsequent reporting of clinical trials for existing products.

This position is an essential part of the VPH Technical Service mission, which is to generate and centralize supporting data, information and materials for our products

 

Missions :

Clinical Trials (data generation) & Scientific Information Management

To be the reference for VPH Tech service for clinical trials best practices. Train local and regional teams to improve their capacity and the quality of regional and local trials.

In collaboration with global, regional and local technical directors, define the trials plan, to coordinate and to verify the accomplishment of laboratory and field trials, studies and data collection related to:

•            Disease & Science related to the VPH product range

•            VPH products

•            Competitors products

The same focus applies for the sourcing and storage of scientific information and materials.

 

Coordinate the set-up and implementation of clinical trials

-             Protocol, recruitment and preparation

-             Animal phase and laboratory phases

-             Data collection

-             Data analysis (data management, statistics)

Respect timelines and agendas regarding:

-             obtaining relevant authorizations and ensuring compliance with internal policies (legal, IP, Finance, Procurement)

-             field and laboratory operations

-             obtaining of key documents (raw data, reports…etc...)

-             the invoicing of the service

Optimize expenses related to trials.

Search public domain science and find supportive documentation for Merial product and technical platforms

Publications

To propose and/or to collect subjects for publication :

-             in journals

-             at congresses

To realize or supervise

-             article writing

-             data collection

-             statistical analysis

-             validation

-             clearance

-             submission

 

To make available to VPH specialists all publications linked to the product range

 

EUCAN Technical Director

Act as single entry point for internal and external customers for technical expertise related to VPH vaccines (especially FMD and BTV, product and disease)

Study, be up to date with, and share technical and scientific information related to VPH vaccines, to the Boehringer Ingelheim range of VPH vaccines and those of its competitors, and align with marketing on clear competitive positioning, in order to implement the marketing strategy and to support the sales force

Support regional commercial colleagues for scientific exchanges on FMD, BTV, and other TEDs, provide Boehringer Ingelheim validated answers to questions from customers

Support regional BusOps for Key Accounts Management. Visit Key Accounts regularly and provide scientific information on products and disease through direct exchanges or technical forums

Clear summary of epidemiology for your region, updated quarterly and presented 2x/year. Epidemiologic trends/ strain matching clearly incorporated in regional business plan. Provide scientific advice for vaccine composition

Provide technical support to the regions for addressing Pharmacovigilance issues

Provide training on VPH products to Boehringer Ingelheim employees and distributors, so that they are able to clearly explain our value proposition.

 

Major responsibilities:

Clinical trials

To define the plan, to coordinate trials, and to ensure proper implementation :

-             in compliance with Boehringer Ingelheim policies

-             according to marketing strategies

-             by collecting data with the highest value and quality

-             by allowing publication at the highest scientific level

-             to ensure a high POS and decrease risk

Publications

To write, supervise writing, and coordinate the publication of technical / scientific information supporting VPH products, in the relevant scientific papers, following the highest scientific standards

 

Congresses & Meetings

To plan, coordinate, supervise the scientific communications of VPH during global congresses, forums and important regional congresses.

To support if necessary scientific communication during local congresses.

To guarantee a convenient risk/benefit balance in the published messages.

To present orally in certain forums.

Education

DVM

PhD or MS in epidemiology, virology, parasitology or immunology

 

Experience in:

Clinical Animal Studies

Statistics

Scientific documentation – writing, evaluation and publication

Database management

Scientific presentations (including conferences)

 

Skills

Scientific expertise in VPH

Organization skills, project management

Strong focus on objectives and deliverables

Good oral and writing skills

Fluent English

Team work, ability to develop internal and external network

Relationship management with key external scientific and institutional personnel

Adjustability to potentially heavy travel needs
